We are pleased to be part of "Travel Green Wisconsin" a program that reviews, certifies and recognizes tourism businesses that have made a commitment to continuously improve to reduce their environmental and social impact. When the inn was re-constructed 2009-2010, all Green rules were applied, as well as rooftop solar heating.
January 13, 1923 was the grand opening of the Traveler's Home Hotel complete with a "Fried Chicken and Dressing Dinner" and music by the Schulz Orchestra. The hotel, built by William Talg and operated by his wife, Sara boasted hot and cold running water in every room, phone connections, steam heat, and real home cooking! The cost in 1923 was $2.50/day. Members of the Talg family still live in the area.
In 1944, the hotel became the Fountain Lutheran Mission Home established to provide seniors, unable to live alone, with a home. This served seniors until 2008.
In January 2009, the home was purchased and the renovation began with great attention to detail to become the Fountain Chateau Bed & Breakfast Inn. Reconstruction of the inn was finished in 2010, and included all new walls, ceilings, wiring, windows, bathrooms, solar panels, and more. Much of the historical building remains intact including beautiful chandeliers, woodwork, staircases and much more. The name Fountain was retained in our new name and a signature fountain greets you in the reception area. We welcome your stay!
